Upma is versatile. You can also make it with vermicelli or brown bread. You can also experiment and make a combination to have the best of both worlds.
Ingredients

3 cups rava

1 potato
|
1 carrot
|
½ cup green peas
|
To taste: salt, green chilies
|
Lemon juice, coriander
|
Kadipatta, grates coconut
|
Cashew nuts
|
2 onions
|
Preparation:
1. Roast Rava with 2 tsp. of ghee or oil.
2. Chop onions, potato and carrots.
3. Keep 3 cups of water for boiling.
4. Heat oil in pan, add jeera, mustard seeds, hing, green chillies, kadi pitta and cashew nuts. Sauté them.
5. Add carrot, potato, onion green peas and stir them, cover with a lid for a few minutes.
6. Add roasted Rava and stir again.
7. Add boiling water slowly and cook covered. When cooked add salt, lemon juice, chopped, coriander, 1tsp sugar and grated coconut.
