Rice recipe: Rice Vadagam


1. Rice 1/2kg

2. Green chilly 100gm

3. Cumin

4. Salt

5. 12 glass of water

Best time to have: Lunch

Best combination: Curd rice, Sambar rice (all lunch items)

Preparation time: Drying time ~ 2 days.

Preparation technique:

1. Soak the rice for two hours

2. Grind the rice in a fine paste.

3. Grind the green chilly well in mixie.

4. Boil the water in bowl.

5. Then add grinded rice, chilly, cumin seed and salt

6. Stir it well. Make sure that no lumps are formed.

7. Spread a clean cloth and take the rice paste in table spoon, pour it on the cloth in small round shapes.

8. Dry them well. Once dried, sprinkle water on opposite side of the cloth .This helps in peeling out the Vadagam from cloth.

9. Dry again and store safely in a air tight box

2. Easy to digest

3. Cumin and green chilly reduces the heat in the body.

Note: Add food colours or natural colours in this paste to make colourful vadagams.
