South Indian recipe: Sambar

Ingredients:

Toor dal 100gm
Vegetable (drumstick,
Carrot and beans) 150 gm
Green chilies 2nos
Tomato 1 nos (large size)
Onion 1nos
Tamarind 10gm
Coriander Leaves 5gm
Curry leaves 5gm
Oil 3tsp




Serves: Five members only

Best time to have: Breakfast and Dinner

Best combination: Rice, Idli and Dosa

Time to make: Making time: 40 minutes


Preparation technique:

1. Soak the tamarind in 1 cup water for 20 minutes.

2. Squeeze it out

3. Wash and clean the dal.

4. Boil 2 cups of water and add the dal, turmeric power and 1 teaspoon of oil.

5. Cook on medium flame in cooker for three whistles.

6. Add vegetables, onion , tomato, garlic 2 Piece, tamarind water and sambhar
powder to the cooked dal in the cooker.

7. Mix thoroughly and close the cooker.

8. Once again heat it in high flame. After three whistles, turn off the flame.


Garnishing:

Coriander Leaves 5gm
Curry leaves 5gm

Seasoning:

Fenugreek seed
Mustard seed
Cumin seed
Asafetida
